Steven Block is President of Ambu USA. Since joining the company in April 2013, he is credited with more than doubling U.S. revenue, completing the successful acquisition and integration of King Systems to achieve the leading position in anesthesia, transferring supply chain fulfillment to UPS, and successfully launching multiple endoscopes product lines. In addition, Block has built-out Ambu’s new corporate accounts team and significantly increased GPO contract positions. Under Block’s leadership, Ambu has attained 30% market share in bronchoscopy in OR & ICU. In addition, he is credited with successfully creating, organizing and expanding Ambu’s single-use endoscopy division in 2015. He has also overseen the significant commercial expansion in 2019-2020 of the company’s new GI division while leading Ambu’s successful launch into new endoscopy segments, which include Urology & ENT.
Prior to joining Ambu, Block was President and CEO of LMA North America from January 2005 to December 2012. LMA developed products for anesthesia and airway management and signed a definitive agreement to be purchased for $300 million by Teleflex in August 2012. From 2005 to 2006 he was Chief Operating Officer at LMA North America. From January 1991 to January 2005, Block was a senior executive at Datascope Corp., a diversified cardiovascular device company that developed, manufactured and marketed proprietary products for clinical health care markets in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular and vascular surgery, and critical care. While at Datascope, Block was International Managing Director based in St. John’s Wood, London, UK. From 2002 to 2005 he was acting President and Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing in New Jersey.
Block is considered an expert in restructuring, building and developing strong teams. He has significant experience in managing international and U.S. organizations and he has been successful at launching new products and developing new markets. Block graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and he completed The Wharton School of Pennsylvania’s Executive Education program.
